The latest figures on the global HIV/AIDS epidemic were published by the UNAIDS in July 2017.

During 2016, over 1.8 million people became infected with HIV. By year end 2016, 36.7 million people worldwide were living with HIV. Despite recent improvements in antiretroviral treatment, 1 million people died from AIDS during 2016.
