How can I withdraw my consent
Every human diagnosed with HIV is registered in SHM's national database. This registration is needed to correctly report the number of HIV infections in the Netherlands.
If you withdraw your permission for research you can report this to your treating physician and you will be immediately deregistered from SHM. We then only register basic data as:
- year of birth;
- sex;
- born in the Netherlands yes/no;
- date in care and out of care;
- data from an earlier registration with SHM, if you have previously attended another HIV treatment centre;
- statement that written and/or oral explanation has been given.
In addition, we will stop collecting your medical data and the medical data already collected will no longer be used for new research.
You can read more about other rights you have under How can I withdraw my consent and what other rights do I have?.
