HIV in Europe

Logo_HIV_in_Europe.pngHIV in Europe is a pan-European initiative begun in Brussels in 2007. It provides a European platform for exchange of information and activities to improve early diagnosis and earlier care of HIV across Europe. The initiative is directed by an independent group of experts with representation from civil society, policy makers, health professionals and European public health institutions. It has put the issue of earlier diagnosis of HIV on the political agenda and involved the various constituencies. Also, it has been able to initiate specific projects to enhance optimal testing and care. Its overall objective is to ensure that HIV-positive patients enter care earlier in the course of their infection than they are currently and to study the decrease in the proportion of HIV-positive persons presenting late for care.
