SHM presents at IWHOD 2012

At the 16th International Workshop on HIV Observational Databases (IWHOD), held from 29 to 31 March 2012 in Athens, Greece, researchers from Stichting HIV Monitoring (SHM) presented new research findings with oral and poster presentations.

On behalf of the Hepatitis C Working Group from COHERE, SHM’s Colette Smit gave a presentation on the findings of a study on the effect of hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment on the risk of mortality in patients with HIV and HCV co-infection. Results of this study show that treatment of HCV has been associated with a decrease in CD4 cells, but not with an increased risk of mortality.
