New: site-specific progress reports on SHM data collection

As of 2015, SHM’s data monitors will provide annual data collection progress reports for each HIV treatment centre in the Netherlands.  The reports will describe the progress made during the past calendar year in the collection of data from HIV-positive individuals in care in a particular HIV treatment centre, and will be made available to the chief HIV treating physician of that hospital and other members of the HIV treatment team.

The reports are intended to provide the HIV treating physician and/or treatment team with an annual overview of the activities carried out as part of SHM’s data collection process. Moreover, these reports also enable SHM to succinctly inform the treatment team about the scope and quality of the data collected at their hospital and, where necessary, highlight possible areas for improvement.

In particular, the reports will assess specific aspects of the data collection process, such as the patient registration procedure, quality of the data entered into the database, the presence of a back-log in data entry, data collector training, and use of patient-specific and centre-specific reports by the HIV treatment team.

The reports for 2015 are currently being prepared and will be sent out in March. Once the treatment centres have received the reports, the data monitor will make an appointment with the chief HIV treating physician to discuss the contents of the report. In this way, SHM hopes to further optimise its collaboration with the HIV treatment centres in the Netherlands.
