Press Release - Stichting HIV Monitoring reports yearly increase in number of new HIV diagnoses is not continuing

Stichting HIV Monitoring (SHM) reports in its Monitoring Report 2011 that the yearly increase in number of new HIV diagnoses in men who have sex with men (MSM) does not appear to be continuing in 2009 and 2010. Since 1998, the annual number of new diagnoses amongst MSM has steadily increased to just above 800 in 2008. In 2009 and 2010 it is estimated that there will be 750 new diagnoses registered amongst MSM. Read more

Frank de Wolf presents at 6th Ethnic Minority Conference

SHM’s director, Frank de Wolf was invited to deliver the closing plenary session at the 6th Ethnic Minority Conference held on 14 October 2011 in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. During his presentation “HIV among ethnic minorities in the Netherlands; the people behind the data” Prof. de Wolf discussed the fact that immigrants with HIV are a substantial group within the HIV population in the Netherlands. NCHIV 2011 – The platform for discussion on developments in HIV research

The 5th Netherlands Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Prevention and Treatment (NCHIV 2011) will take place this year on Tuesday, 29 November at the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) in Amsterdam. On the same day, Stichting HIV Monitoring will also publish it’s yearly Monitoring Report and Frank de Wolf, Director SHM, will present the main points and conclusions during the Epidemiology session of the conference.
