Peter Reiss joins SHM as new Director

As per 1 February 2013, Peter Reiss has joined Stichting HIV Monitoring as Director. He takes over from Frank de Wolf, who resigned on 1 December 2012 to start a new position as General Manager and Medical Director at the Crucell Vaccine Institute.

Peter Reiss is Professor of Internal Medicine at the Academic Medical Center at the University of Amsterdam. Dr. Reiss serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards of the Agence Nationale de Recherches sur le Sida et les hépatites (ANRS) and the Swiss HIV Cohort Study, as well as on the Steering Committees of the D:A:D study, the ART-Cohort Collaboration, and the EuroSida Study. He also is one of the rotating scientific coordinators of the EU-funded EuroCoord collaboration. As such he has already had a long and productive association with Stichting HIV Monitoring. He has also served on the foundation’s HIV Monitoring Working Group until his appointment as Director.

He is Clinical HIV Section Editor for Antiviral Therapy and editorial board member of a number of other journals. Dr. Reiss is immediate past President of the European Aids Clinical Society, and is the regional representative for Europe & Central Asia on the Governing Council and Executive Committee of the International Aids Society (IAS). His current research focuses particularly on non-infectious co-morbidity and ageing in HIV.
