Quality Control

Monitoring quality control

To ensure the database quality, part of the registered data for each HIV treatment centre is reviewed annually. Data monitors check the entered data for accuracy and completeness by comparing these to source documents such as the medical file, electronic lab results, and complementary examinations.

Guarding protocol and privacy

Data monitors also check for the correct adherence to protocol and privacy regulations. In case of problems, data monitors are to trace the source and coach the data collectors at the treatment centres to improve the quality and efficiency of data collection. They also coordinate database cleaning and the possible reviewing of certain data stored in the database.

Stichting HIV Monitoring

SHM, the Dutch HIV monitoring foundation, makes an important and necessary contribution to healthcare for HIV-infected people living in the Netherlands. Through the collection and maintenance of anonymous data from HIV-patients throughout the country, our work contributes significantly to the knowledge of HIV and enables treating physicians to assess and improve patient care. Our yearly monitoring report provides valuable input for the development of HIV care and prevention policies within the Netherlands and the EU.
